Oct 15, 2007 (Choice - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Some 22 per cent of people surveyed by Newspoll in 2006 said they would not get a landline if they moved house. In the three years to June 2006, there was a 10 per cent drop in the number of payphones in Australia, and a three per cent drop in the number of landlines. People who give up their landlines can consider alternatives such as making calls via Voice over Internet Protocol, or using a capped mobile plan to minimise their bill.
