NSW: Boy on life support after pipe attack
A Sydney teenager is fighting for his life in hospital after a cowardly attack in the
city's west left a metal pipe lodged in his head.
The 17-year-old Quakers Hill boy, whose name has not been released, has had a 50cm
metal pipe surgically removed from his head at Westmead Hospital.
He remains on life support and doctors say his prognosis is poor.
Blacktown police Inspector WAYNE MCMAHON says two large groups of youths quarralled
outside the Woodcroft shopping centre on Friday night.
He says when the victim and four friends left in his car they were confronted by a
group of about 18 Asian males armed with metal poles and bats.
One of them threw a 50cm solid metal bar through the driver's side window and hit the
teenager in the back of the skull.
Inspector MCMAHON says police are looking for a group of six to eight young Asian males
who they believe are in their late teens.
