NSW: Security guard stabbed with a syringe

SYDNEY, Dec 22 AAP - A security guard was stabbed in the arm with a syringe outside a
Centrelink job centre in Sydney today, police said.

The 21-year-old guard was attacked from behind by a man while making a general patrol
outside the job centre in Crown Street, Darlinghurst at 9.45am today, a police spokesman said.

Police said there appeared to be no clear motive for the attack.

The syringe punctured the guard's arm and he was rushed to St Vincents Hospital for
treatment and later transferred to the Albion Street Centre for blood tests and counselling.

It was not known if there was any blood in the syringe, the spokesman said.

Police are urging witnesses to contact Kings Cross police station.
